WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Airport High School’s Army JROTC drill team brought home another top honor this past weekend, finishing first overall in the 4th Brigade Best of the Best Drill Team Championship.
It’s a title the Golden Talon team has held since the 2014-15 school year.
Airport’s team competed against top Army JROTC drill teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware and Washington D.C. at the event, held in Hickory, N.C.
In addition to the first place overall, Ithe team placed in several other events, including:
1st place, platoon regulation unarmed
1st place, platoon inspection armed
1st place, regulation drill overall
2nd place, platoon exhibition armed
2nd place, solo exhibition armed
2nd place, platoon regulation armed
3rd place, duet exhibition armed
3rd place, exhibition drill overall
5th place, color guard
5th place, platoon exhibition unarmed
The Golden Talon team has received numerous other state, regional and national honors. Last year, the team finished second in the nation at the National High School Drill Team Championship.
