WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Scholarships awarded to Lexington Two’s graduating seniors hit a record high with the Class of 2018.
Students have been awarded $15,885,641 in scholarships -- a more than $5 million increase over last year and more than double the total scholarship amount just four years ago.
Airport High seniors received awards totaling $7,734,725 -- a nearly $2.2 million increase over last year.
Brookland-Cayce High seniors received awards totaling $8,180,116 -- a nearly $3 million increase over last year.
Lexington Two’s Class of 2018 includes nearly 500 graduating seniors.
“More than $15 million in scholarships, for a district our size, is a huge measure of success for our academic programs,” said Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. William James. “It’s also huge for our families. That’s $15 million that stays in their pocketbooks, that stays here in our community.
“We could not be more proud of these graduates and all they've accomplished."
In addition to $4,743,341 in academic scholarships for the two high schools, tallied as of May 29, other highlights include:

302 Life and HOPE scholarships, totaling $5,785,000

- 21 military financial awards, totaling $1,386,000
Graduation ceremonies were held Monday, June 4 for Brookland-Cayce and Tuesday, June 5 for Airport.
