Lexington Two celebrates Teachers of the Year, Support Staff of the Year

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Lexington Two will celebrate its Teachers of the Year and Support Staff of the Year at a reception this month.

 

On August 21,  all of the district’s school-level Teachers and Support Staff of the Year, along with the two district-level winners — Kimberly Scalise, a teacher with the Early Childhood Program at the Community Education Center, and Kendra Spires, clerical support with the special education program at Riverbank Elementary — will be recognized at a ceremony before the monthly board meeting, attended by family, friends, fellow educators, and others.

 

“This is one of our favorite events, celebrating the teachers and support staff who help set the standard for serving our students and school communities,” said Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner.

Scalise’s selection as District Teacher of the Year was made by a panel of judges from the community in the education field. She will now represent Lexington Two in the South Carolina Teacher of the Year competition. The statewide winner is announced in the spring.

The Lexington Two District Teacher of the Year and District Support Staff of the Year will be selected from among the school-level winners by a panel of judges and announced at District Convocation on August 1. They will all be recognized at a reception in the fall.

 

The District Teacher of the Year will go on to compete for South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
