DeZyah Dewitt wins national title in Future Chefs Challenge

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A third-grade Cayce Elementary School student is the national champion of the Future Chefs Challenge.

DeZyah Dewitt’s Cheeseburger Cupcakes recipe was the top vote-getter among 5 national finalists of the annual event. DeZyah had earlier won Lexington School District Two’s Future Chefs challenge, competing among fellow district elementary students,  and went on to win the regional competition.

DeZyah will have the opportunity to make her winning recipe at Cayce Elementary with James Beard award-winning chef Daniela Soto-Innes, who was also recognized as World’s Best Female Chef by The World's 50 Best Restaurants.

The annual competition is presented by Sodexo.
