57 middle, high school students selected to District Honor Orchestra

WEST COLUMBIA, SC Fifty-seven Lexington Two middle and high school students have been selected to the District Honor Orchestra.

 

Middle school musicians will work with clinician Dorothy Hanlin, while high schoolers will work with Phillip Pagal.

 

The students will hold a free performance, open to the public, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at the District’s Performing Arts Center.

 

Students are under the guidance of Lexington Two directors Collin Richardson, Airport High School; Jeffery Chen, Brookland-Cayce High School; Tim Dunlap, Fulmer Middle School; Kristy Todd, Northside Middle School; and John Rogers, Busbee Creative Arts Academy.

SCMEA All-State Orchestra

Avery McCree, a junior at Airport High School, has been selected to the prestigious South Carolina Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra.

The orchestra is a prestigious ensemble of top student musicians from across South Carolina. Organized by the South Carolina Music Educators Association, it provides high-achieving string players with the opportunity to perform challenging repertoire under the direction of renowned conductors. Students are selected through a rigorous audition process that assesses their technical skills and musicality.

McCree and other members of the All-State Orchestra will offer free performances by grade level starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 23, in the Boiling Springs High School auditorium in Boiling Springs.
