Lexington Two offers new assistance program for employees and families

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Lexington Two employees have a new support program for dealing with life’s stresses and challenges.

The district has announced a partnership with Deer Oaks as part of a new Employee Assistance Program to cover employees and their dependents on a range of health and service offerings.

“The past couple of years have been particularly challenging for our employees and their families amid COVID-19,” said Dr. Angela Cooper, the district’s chief human resources officer. “Deer Oaks will allow us to go beyond what we have traditionally offered, to a very broad-based Employee Assistance Program,  with services and support for employees and family members that far exceed anything we have been able to provide in the past. We feel like this program offers an even greater level of support, and we’re already getting a positive response from employees about it.”

The Employee Assistance Program offers help with issues including stress, depression, anxiety, workplace difficulties, substance abuse, marital problems, family or parenting conflicts, grief, and unhealthy lifestyles. It also can provide additional assistance with, and tools and referrals for, child care and elder care; financial and legal issues; retiree assistance; moving resources; credit reports; reimbursed rides (cab, Uber, RideShare, Lyft); ID recovery; and more.

Lexington Two employees will receive four confidential short-term counseling visits at no cost.

“Support programs are vital, especially now,” Dr. Cooper said.  “Hopefully,  Lexington Two employees and job candidates will see the importance we place on the health and wellness of families and our community through this new assistance program.”

The Deer Oaks program, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, will launch in Lexington Two on April 1.
