What you need to know about attendance

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Here's an important note for Lexington Two families.

Attendance WILL be taken starting the first day of school -- Monday, Aug. 19 -- per the SC Department of Education, and students pre-registered at the school will be marked absent if they don't attend on the first day. These days will count toward truancy if they are unexcused absences, per the Department of Education.

A pre-enrolled (pre-registered) student is one who was enrolled in the school at the end of the 2018-19 school year and is expected to return for the next grade (no records request received from a new school, for example) or one who recently moved into the district and enrolled in the school.

If you have questions, please contact your school.

Note: Here is information from the SC Department of Education about chronic absenteeism, enacted a few years ago: https://ed.sc.gov/districts-schools/student-intervention-services/chronic-absenteeism/
